How to obtain permission to reuse figures from published articles !!

Permission for using a figure of a published article

1. When permission is not required-
a) Your own figure, unpublished
b) You have reprinted a published figure in a modified form (citation is required)
c) You have replotted a graph from the data of a published source (citation is required)

2. When permission is required from original publisher (you may have to provide the evidence to the targeted publisher)
a) You have reprinted a published figure as it is
b) You have reprinted a figure with a minor modification

Do you need to make a request every time you want to submit to a different journal or let's say if the figure number changes?

I want to know what does the reference number indicate? You showed 2 figures with reference 120 and re 132. Is it the ereference number/manuscript ID of the article that you took permission from, or is it the reference number that you enter when you request for permission? Please clarify as I could not understand it properly.

Actually I contacted one published about reprinting the figure as it was and they told me that I do not need their permission because the report was public. Therefore, your information is not accurate in the second part.
