What Can You Forage In May? | UK Spring Foraging

Показать описание
It’s been a couple of weeks since my last foraging video and everything seems to have spring into life since!

Join me for a walk around the local woodlands to discover what’s waiting for us in May - there’ll be medicinal plants, edible wildflowers, citrusy tree blossoms and much more to see!

Please remember to never eat any wild food, be it plant, fruit or fungi, unless you are 100% certain of its identity and always cross check your resources. Always do research before taking herbs internally, especially if you are pregnant, have severe allergies or a weakened immune system. Finally, remember to take only what you need from places of abundance, and always leave plenty for the wildlife too.

If you’d like to follow along for more foraging and forest garden content, you can join me over on;

Thanks for watching!

Without meaning to knock other foraging videos, this is the third one I've watched today and I really appreciate your inclusion of things like snippets of folklore, the etymology, most importantly your descriptions of the plants is really satisfying - it seems like a lot of channels stop at showing the plant, saying what it is, and what it tastes like, I appreciate how much you choose to include, it really helps show the enthusiasm for connecting with nature that you're espousing and I'm so here for it

I feel like I'm seeing many more Alexanders around London this year too - there are places where it has almost displaced cow parsley as the dominant roadside umbellifer.

Appreciate this viceo a lot. Going to head out this afternoon to try and identify some local plantlife myself. Very informative

You are so right, Danni, living in the moment, taking time to just “be”. We always seem so preoccupied with getting somewhere, instead of just slowing it all down and experiencing the here and now. Take 2 hours to complete a 30-minute walk. Really get into your surroundings, explore, feel, hear and touch your environment, experience the life around you.
I heard a great expression from a Canadian hunter/tracker I watch. He said we shouldl get barefoot in the woods, at least once a week. Without footwear, we are grounded with the earth. As he also stated, it is no accident the bottom of our feet are called soles! 🤍
I've just started my first ever double extraction of turkey tail today. 160gm and dried mushrooms, soaking in 800ml of 40% vodka (strongest I could find!). My wife has autoimmune conditions, so it is my greatest hope that the turkey tail tincture we are making will help. NGL, feel like a modern day witch! 😁 ”160g of turkey tail, vodka, eye of newt, wing of bat!”
Happy hunting, Danni, thank you for the knowledge you share, it always greatly appreciated!

I just found a beautiful tea combination... I have some nice and dry water mint tips that go very well with about three or four parts fresh blackberry leaves and a teaspoon of honey. So simple but it never occurred to me before now. Just delicious hot or chilled

That's one of your best videos so far Danni, really interesting and educational..currently on a long boring train journey, ironically had a connection in Sheffield!! Watching that has helped it fly by and at the same time it was so relaxing 😊

WRT Colts foot can be "toxic if consumed in large quantities":
My research of such greens leads me to believe that oxalic acid content is the reason. It's considered toxic if one can easily consume enough for the oxalic acid to cause stomach upset.
That's the reason rhubarb leaves are considered toxic.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Amazing video. Why it's so low viewed?
Probably, mainly humans still hibernated.
