I collected Oyster Mushrooms for the first time this year on my own without a professional. My neighbor was gonna throw the wild mushrooms away, but I made the choice of bringing them home. I looked them up online and I used a mushroom field guide, but I was still a little worried they were poisonous. After feeling something tell me they were safe, I ate a very small amount. No burning sensation which means no poison. I cleaned them off multiple times and soaked them in a bowl of salt water for 24 hours. Once I prepared them, I ate a large amount. I still felt no burning sensation in the mouth and was perfectly fine a few hours later. They were either Phoenix Oyster Mushrooms or a different type but they were most likely the first one mentioned above.
