I mix flax and Chia. I also eat walnuts almost every day. Flax is a fairly good source of Protein also. You can't confuse me. I was already confused. I am a healthy 82 year old just trying to stay that way. Thanks

Colon Hydrotherapist here. If you have slow bowel motility (constipation) be so so careful with the amount of soluble fiber you eat. If too much is eaten, it can basically turn into a thick glue in your colon and makes you more constipated. Start with a tiny amount and eat food that contains a lot of fluid and drink a lot of water as well.

I mix 1.5 tbsp of chia and the same amount of ground flax seed in a glass of almond milk to make a great pudding. Add sweetener, cinnamon, and leave in fridge overnight. Eat with a few raspberries or blueberries. Yum!

This is helpful information. It merits mentioning that ground flax and chia can go rancid if stored at room temperature for long periods of time. Oxidative risk occurs after seeds are ground; therefore, I do not purchase ground flax seeds. Heat and light are particularly detrimental.

According to many sources, flax and chia should be freshly ground to maximize the nutritional benefits. I grind a 50/50 blend of whole flax/chia and store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for no longer a few days. I use two tablespoons in yogurt, keto cereals, smoothies, et al.

I store the whole seeds in their original packages inside freezer bags in the freezer. I remove only the amount needed to grind more seeds.

Chia meal pros : Omega 3 rich, antioxidants, fiber, potassium, calcium and magnesium . Chia cons : calorically dense and high in oxalates . Flax meal pros : Omega 3 rich +lowers blood pressure, fiber, lower oxalates compared to chia .Flax cons : estrogenic mimic, cyanogenic glycosides. Conclusion : Use both sparingly 2 tblspns added to meals . Over consumption of either could lead to intestinal blockage .

Blurts out "the short answer" to the question at 7:48. Flax is better. Why? Big words. It has the better sentences containing the better big words. But chia is still good.

I put 2T chia seeds in my Greek yogurt to double the calcium I'm eating.
I make my own sauerkraut and kefir for probiotics to make it past the stomach acids.

I am mixing chia seeds, broken flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, oat flakes, dark chocolate nibs and 1 table spoon of extra vierge olive oil through the yoghurt. A very healthy and tasty mix.

I have been eating flax, hemp, and chi seeds every day in my unsweetened apple sauce. I use a coffee bean grinder to grind them. Add 2 tablespoons to my applesauce. My A1C has come down 2 points from three months ago. I go this Friday and am excited to see if it has come down more. I eat a lot of fibrous foods every day.

I absolutely love this channel. I have an MS in biology, and I attended medical school in Florida. I love the in-depth research focus to health. I don't mind the heavy sponsorships as I don't expect DeLauer to work for free.

Ive been following you for just a short time, but I have to say, you are doing an amazing job of teaching people some really great things. Keep up what you do and continued success. You have really taught me alot of things on my journey to keep my diabetes at bay. Got off my metformin about 4 months ago with help from you and others like you giving me good info. I cant thank you enough!!!!
p.s. Just last year my dr was going to add another pill to help me with my diabetes. I had and A1C of about 10, and a year later its around 6.

Thx for this fascinating analysis of flaxseed and Chia. Even the putative benefits drawn from Chia (reduced inflammation, better glycemic control ....) were in fact due to the deterioration of the biomarkers of the control group, who was fed simple bran.
So, for me flaxseed (before lunch: 1 tbsp ground flax with lemon juice in a warm glass of water) is the way to go .Furthermore, one kilogram of nonGMO flaxseed costs less than 2 dollars in Morocco.
But Chia also could be very beneficial for specific conditions as shown in this remarkable video.
