A great trick for tying and untying a rope? A knot that very few people know about! How do I tie a thread? A great solution to the knot problem! Do I have a problem tying the rope? Why isn't this method of tying a rope patented?

Я работал боцманом на паруснике, стар Флайер, и заявляю, что реально используются 3-4 узла, а все остальное декоративное вязание.

I would argue that the three most essential knots are bowline, taught line, and truckers hitch. These get you through most every day tasks and are the base line for understanding many other knots, including the ones you show in this video.

Nice. It's great having the right knot for the job. Knots are magical how they hold fast, yet easy to untie, I'll be back. My favorite knot is the truckers hitch. Probably because I struggled for so long keeping taught lines tying a canoe on car racks. It was an eureka moment! 😂 wisconsin, usa

Very good idea, we loose the knowledge of our fathers. Thanks a lot for this and congratulations about the staging. Easy learning. ( from Belgium)

Knowing a few knots is super useful. It's a skill lost to many in the modern world, but they remain as hseful as ever.

My most used ropeworld skills (im a novice) is how to cojl cable/hoses correctly without causion torsion (lots of videos on this) + a super simple constriction knot that is way stronger than any hose clamp, and can tie almost any two things together:
It works best with thinner string or smooth ropes. Imagine a hose on a loose connector. line up string horisontally and make a U-turn on the rjght side. now use the active (right side) end of the string to wrap around itself many times tightly - from left to right. When you want to end the knot - pull it though the loop you made that is jutting out on the right. Finally, pull strongly on both ends until everthing sinches tightly together. This stupidly strong even with thin sewing thread, but the best type of string is probably monofilaments (lkke fishing line). you can use most types though - even metal wire if you have some pliers to work wkth.

Wali, from Pakistan (72!)! Knots have always fascinated me. When I was very young, my sister gave me a Lady Bird book on knots. I got some pieces of different coloured ropes, and learnt all of them. One of my favourite (that I often use, and find very smart) is what is probably called a timber hitch. I don't know why, I am getting attracted to knots, though I don't get the time to practice. I really admire people like you, who share their wonderful knowledge and experience with us. I am trying to find the kind of (braided) rope that most people use in videos, including you. It appears it is fairly costly, and not available around me. Common cotton and nylon ropes do not behave properly. Recently I tried to get some children around me to get interested in knots, and practice to some amazing level, but I was disappointed. THANKS! Sorry for going on so long.

You are correct, there are three essential knots. They are the bowline, the bowline and the bowline.
