Wait, people actually hate Anne Hathaway? I was under the impression that the one thing every person in the world could agree on was that we all totally adore Anne Hathaway.

I've been a fan of her since Princess Diaries and now I'm an air-conditioner

She won her Oscar and named every person she worked it, which is so generous I can't even put it into words.

“It came true.” I get chills every time I hear her say that as she holds her well deserved Oscar award.

Am I the only one who loves her so damn much? Like seriously what is the reason people dislike her? Probably jealousy

Only hugh Jackman was standing for her when her name was announced. Such a remarkable friendship. Hats off to hugh Jackman. I hope one day he will get an oscar and Anne hathaway will be standing for him.

Am I the only seeing her as a sweet nice lady? She's one of the very few non-obnoxious American actors and great, people hate her!

Jennifer Lawrence doesn't even try to act and she wins an Oscar and falls down a lot and we all her. Anne Hathaway has loved acting all her life and finally achieved her goal and we all hate her. Makes absolutely no sense at all. You're a beautiful woman Anne, you deserved it.

2020 edit: omg ok so I completely forgot I even said this and I’m kinda embarrassed 😂. I now understand that around that time Anne was giving off a Theatre Kid complex and JLaw was giving off a “quirky/relatable” vibe, so they were both considered annoying.

Fast forward to 2016. I think what I was trying to say was how could we not like someone who was enjoying their moment while praising someone who seemed incompetent or overrated, not necessarily taking down one woman while uplifting the other. Either way, I was 19 when I posted this and still had a lot to learn, and I’ll probably delete it lol.

“I felt very uncomfortable,

I kind of lost my mind doing that movie and it hadn’t come back yet. Then I had to stand up in front of people and feel something I don’t feel which is uncomplicated happiness. It’s an obvious thing, you win an Oscar and you’re supposed to be happy.

I didn’t feel that way

I felt wrong that I was standing there in a gown that cost more than some people are going to see in their lifetime, and winning an award for portraying pain that still felt very much a part of our collective experience as human beings.

I tried to pretend that I was happy and I got called out on it, big time. That’s the truth and that’s what happened. It sucks. But what you learn from it is that you only feel like you can die from embarrassment, you don’t actually die.”

I respect that she had a practiced speech. It's nice that some actors take the time to think about what they want to say instead of being like Jennifer Lawrence and making weird sounds, grunting, and stuttering. I don't think having a practiced speech makes you less genuine in any way.

"The misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories, and never more in real life." I almost started crying. She's such an amazing actress, and actually the only Fantine that has ever made me sob during "I Dreamed A Dream". She absolutely deserved this award, because Fantine is one of the hardest roles to play, because of everything she goes through, and Anne portrayed her beautifully.

A woman that loves herself and values herself and is not afraid to say "Hey. I worked my ass off. This is my moment. I'm going to celebrate it because I fucking well deserve it."

Of course society is going to hate her for that. We'd much rather have women hating themselves.

I think people hate Anne Hathaway because she can do a lot of things they couldn't. She does them SKILLFULLY. I like Anne Hathaway. She for me is classy and intelligent and doesn't talk about spandex when it's unnecessary. They think everything about her is just so exaggerated and come on THEY NEED TO PRACTICE THEIR SPEECHES like whenever someone blunders we attack them and then when someone rehearses it we attack them too. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?

Oh my God. Until I read these comments below, I had no idea of this hatred for a fabulous actress and human being Anne Hathaway. What in the name of God possesses someone to say "She has an irritating face"? What fucked up human being even thinks of such a superficial way to describe someone? For the record folks, Anne Hathaway is viewed by the vast majority as an incredibly beautiful woman (myself included). She is a pure soul of great talent and beautiful human being. To the haters, go and look at yourself in the mirror and then spit at your own disfigured image and make yourself feel better.

"Weakest supporting actress category in History. No Wonder Hathaway swept the awards." EXCUSE ME did you watch this woman in les miserable? She could run for best leading and easily sweep the awards.
