NOVA designer Philipp Medicus explains the differences between conventional paragliders and Hybrid 2.5-Liners (like the new MENTOR 7 Light).
– What new possibilities are there in the development or simulation of paragliders?
– How does the MENTOR 7 Light benefit from this as a Hybrid 2.5-Liner?
– What are the characteristics, the advantages and disadvantages of the 2.5-Liner concept?
– How do 2.5-Liners fly and feel?
– Are they more demanding for the pilot?

Philipp Medicus has studied mechanical engineering and heads the NOVA R&D team. His "pen" has produced gliders such as the BANTAM, ION and XENON – and now the new MENTOR 7 Light.

It is the 8th episode of the interactive online lectures "NOVA Insights". They are aimed at ALL pilots, regardless of the paraglider brand they fly. The Insights are about sharing knowledge, experience and most importantly, enthusiasm for paragliding. Each episode lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours. Viewers can actively participate and ask questions in the chat (you need a YouTube account to access the chat).

You said that mentor 7 has a lower trim speed than other B gliders, so i undestood that it is with hands up, or the real thing is that it has a lower minimum speed and a higher trim speed ? Which number do you think i have to put on my XCTrack app to calculate a better wind speed ? I fly with 78 kg on de XS size, and I know that all of this is very, very inacurrated, but i have to put a number. Tkanks a lot !

Because my english capabilities are not the best, i activated the automatically translated subtitles of YouTube. This software had also some problems, but most was understandable. Thanks to Philipp for his unvarnished factual explanations.
