This show is about the history of the fortifications of the City of Constantinople thorugh the ages from 667 BCE to 1453. This will cover the defenses of Byzantium, Roman Byzantium, Constantines Byzantium and the improvements made by Valens, Leo III and of course Theodosius II. I will also endevour to show you how the fortifications survive in present day Constantinople/Istanbul. This is an introduction to my podcast on the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 on History According to Bob. A new episode will be availible every Wednesday evening.

Hi bob I normally dont comment much but thought I'd leave one as you asked us to do so, Im a 21 year old Dutch male. And I've watched most of your videos now, Im mostly interested in classical antiquity and ancient history, I find your videos really nice as you show more images from more/better angles in higher res than what u can usually find on the internet, that backed up with the commentary and context almost makes this a virtual tour/vacation of the site/area. That still being different from being there in person, I'd still love to visit these places myself oneday and most likely will.
I appreciate the time you spent making these videos Bob, it really shows of these places better than google images ever could.
