"Atomic" is a 1980 song by American rock band Blondie from their fourth studio album, Eat to the Beat (1979). Written by Debbie Harry and Jimmy Destri and produced by Mike Chapman, the song was released as the album's third single.

Great memories from growing up with Blondie on high rotate on the radio, beautifully remastered here. I was lucky enough to get invited to a small venue gig she did in Melbourne in 2012 while on a nationwide tour, the night prior to her main concert at Sidney Myer. Aged 67 at the time, she was still belting them out, absolutely fantastic up close & live.

Such a great classic, and wonderfully remastered! I think I bought the 7 inch single for The Tide Is High (Atomic is much better, but I never heard it on the radio) back in the day, and then moved on to buying every Blondie cassette I could find.

I love this song. I first heard it in 1980 in year 7 Art Class in High School. I was the envy of my mates as we had a girl who was a Year 12 Art student who used to sit up the back and do her HSC work. And she was not bad was 12/13, she was 17/18 and had boobies. Could life be any better ? I can still remember, her name was Joanne.
On the first day she said, "You, what's your name ?" I said something like and she said "It's your lucky day, you are going to sit up the back with me from now on". I almost fainted. My mates jaws hit the floor. The art teacher who was a very average teacher and looked like a uni drop out said "right, back up to the front please - now" after seeing me setting up camp at the rear of the (large) room. The new love of my life said to the teacher, "Nah, he is sitting up here with me from now on". The teacher glared at me and said you do your work or you get moved.
The great thing was Miss Year 12, apart from having boobies, was allowed to listen to music while she worked, so she had a ghetto blaster and a collection of cassettes and gave me an introduction to some music like Blondie and Cheap Trick. We talked music, it was great. I hadn't heard Atomic at the time, it was just charting as a single. It just sounded great, particularly the bass solo in the middle with the drums.
The official channel/Vevo have remastered the video, but they have used a video in which the first 14 seconds have been cut off ! Seriously ? Why would you do that ? Anyway, I have fixed that issue and remastered it well enough that you can see up Deb Harry's nostrils ! My video copy is taken from the Blondie : Eat To The Beat video tape in which a video was made for every song on the Eat To The Beat album.
