Over the years, people have endured the challenge of trying to beat the game as fast as possible with zero powerups, which means: No Capes, No Flowers, No Mushrooms, No Yoshi. The name of this has had quite a unique and very split history and has had dire consequences for the run as a whole, with the biggest notably being a handful of records being completely deleted. About ten or twelve years ago, when I was first discovering speedrunning, I asked an IRL gamer friend of mine if he had ever heard of speedrunning. He replied simply "I know about it yeah." You know, I could at least understand people getting upset if it was something like the old any% and 0 exit and complaining over who was technically any%. But with this category the fact that small only (which is the best description of what the category is) caused such a stir is astonishing.. Its funny how most people once they get a little bit of power they throw tantrums over the littlest things when they cant excersize that control over people. I mean 0 exit makes more sense to be called lowest% than small only. Because lowest% implies that a lower completion level no matter the time would trump a faster run with an additional exit. You've got to love the Internet..

Honestly I think this video is a very good case for why people should care more about keeping a record of things.

Even apart from the whole 'purposefully deleting runs' thing kinda screwing with the ability to make that section of the video (which honestly ended up also overshadowing his rival's records in the video), so much of the jimsfriend era of stuff could have easily been lost but because it wasn't, we got a whole story out of it.

I'm not saying "they werent pogyo's runs to delete" because as much as I am a 'preserve the history' advocate everyone has their own reasons and beliefs but I am saying "don't be petty about something that really doesn't matter".

I'm not gonna get in your way if you feel you need to delete your runs for some reason, but just please don't be extremely petty and pull a stunt because you didn't get your way, it doesn't make you look good.

Wow, great vid! So comprehensive and love the effort you put into highlighting the specific strats used to beat records.
Also, to prevent further destruction of the leaderboards..
It should require moderator approval to delete / private a Top 10 run (top 10 @ the time it was posted).
Posting a run should be basically tied with signing a "contract" that you approve this run to be seen by the public, and promise to keep it there forever, for archival purposes.
