How to regenerate the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in your Toyota
Показать описание
Toyota Hilux models built after 2009 have a Diesel Particulate Filter, or DPF, fitted within the exhaust system.
The DPF is designed to catch soot particles and nitrous oxide (NOx) from the combustion process that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
Toyota's DPF is highly effective and traps around 80% of these harmful particulates, enabling the vehicle to conform to stringent emissions regulations.
Contents of this video:
00:00 Introduction
00:25 What is a DPF?
00:40 How does a DPF work?
1:05 How does a DPF become blocked?
1:25 How to prevent DPF blockages
1:39 What happens if your DPF becomes blocked?
2:10 How to manually regenerate the DPF
4:11 Summary
Diesel particulate filters have a capacity limit and can become full. But unlike traditional air, oil or pollen filters that need to be exchanged manually at regular intervals, the DPF has a much longer service life and is designed to regenerate to restore its performance.
That's why we've put together this informative film to guide owners on how to prevent their DPF from being clogged, and how they can manually clean the DPF it becomes blocked. It's important that drivers do not ignore the DPF warning light when it appears on their vehicle's dashboard.
