I have a robust internal monolog. I talk in my head, I debate with myself, and I even argue with myself. However, I don't just construct thoughts with words; I can also visualize. I see images, colors, and shapes in my head. I hear sounds, and even smell smells. There's a whole universe in my brain. I couldn't imagine not having that.

A lot of times I'll think something, then say it out loud, then realize I'm alone... I can't imagine not having the ability to talk in your head.

My wife is Danish, and we've lived in the US for 23 of the 25 years we've been married. She speaks English perfectly but her inner monologue, and dreams, are in Danish.

When I was in elementary school I was talking to the teacher in front of the class and said “you know that voice in your head”. The whole room looked at me like I was an alien. It was then when I realized most people don’t talk to themselves in their head.
