Exactly what I thought. I worked in an Asian country and had a good relationship with the US ambassador whom I have a huge respect. He was an ex-military man. He told me that the US’s main focus of the collaborative program in the country is security (military). These days you rarely hear news like the US is helping some country in building something, but always joint military exercises.

I'm from Hong Kong and I agree with Colonel Macgregor about how most people felt about the social unrest in 2019. We're truly grateful that Beijing introduced the national security law and restored order and social stability to Hong Kong. Chinese culture values peace and harmony. Nobody wants war, but that doesn't mean we are afraid of warmongers.

Previously, Japan actually benefited much from Sinocentrism. The Japanese kimono had its origins in the Han Chinese clothing _(Hanfu_ 汉服). Even Japanese _(Kanji_ 漢字) were derived from Chinese characters _(Hanzi)._ The traditional Japanese tea ceremony also had origins in China, even the famous Japanese katana was derived from Tang Dynasty blades coming from China.

It's not that Asian countries don't want to return to being sinocentric, it's just that sinocentrism took a blow during the Century of Humiliation of China by Western and Japanese powers. But with the rejuvenation of the Chinese civilization, China is bound to return to its previous status.

Most people in Hong Kong don't support separation/independence, but there's a few Hong Kongers that still retain the colonial mentality. Colonial mentality is the internalized perception of ethnic or cultural inferiority felt by people as a result of colonization. Such people display an ingrained preference for Anglo-Saxon culture over other _"non-white"_ culture, including their own. Decolonization of Hong Kong will not be complete without decolonization of the Hong Kongers' minds
