Armed with our new converter and some drag radials we head out to Calder Park Raceway to try and go 12s with Dad's Ute and fail badly.

Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.

Even a bad day at the track is a good day in my opinion. Great to see Calder Park operating again.

Chuck a holley on it, always had issues with the edelbrock, also if you have clearance add a plastic carb spacer it made a huge difference to my fueling issues too the carb was always cool to touch. And check your fuel pressure, good luck Scotty!

Of all the cars you have, this one does the nicest burnouts.

check the float level? maybe off the line it's dumping fuel from the vents and killing the power. could be a lot of different things. you'll figure it out you know what you're doing. love the channel from over here in America

Totally respect the staying carb it is dad's ute.

I'd be looking at a wideband in the cab and a crane/fast hi6-r ignition . The multi spark keeps plugs bloody clean on the street so can have a nice fat tune for wot without having to worry about it fouling them coming in to the box.

Highly recommend filming into the carb during a launch, you'll be amazed by just how fucked it is. The summary at the end was a throwback to Scotty's Garage, love it.

You're onto it Scotty, its heat soak & vapor lock, but it's not flooding, its lean. A nylon inch spacer block should solve the the fuel hose from pump to carb can never be a bad thing luck man

Ack in the early 90’s my older brother ran a 318 in a vk charger, bored and stroked with as I can remember the works with cam, solid yellow terra roller rockers, edlbrock high rises manifold and not sure of the extractors. I know he had a high volume oil pump and a 750 Holley 4 barrel double pumper from memory. It would run around a low to flat 12’s. Although a few years later after blowing the 318 due to lack of oil pressure, he did somehow buy a 265 hemi that was from an ex chaser numbers matching. I can’t remember the work he did on this 6 but he ended up using another 4 barrel Holley, not sure the size but it also ran in the low 12’s.
Either engine never blew a diff or gear box. He had a bougwarner I’d that’s how it’s spelt. With a shift kit. It was nice and on the back of the chargers you could comfortably fit a 60/265 and 50/245 and looked slick. My fav car shape of all time even tho I loved the dukes charger.
The Aussie charger was light in the rear end tho due to it being short and the front significant longer

Nothing is more frustrating than making a change to improve performance only to chase squirrels in unrelated stuff like this. Best of luck Scotty

17 seconds? That's approaching stock 160HP Slant 6 times :-).

Sorry I couldn't resist that one.

Hopefully it is a nice simple fuel cooling problem and you will have it sorted properly and soon.

I'm glad you are honest enough to show the not so good rather than editing it out and just showing the good. Makes us all feel better about our trials and challenges.

Haven't seen behind the walls of Calder for years! Great to see. Such a shame about the beautiful ute. It's obviously got the power, just not when you want it! Best of luck next time Scotty "-)

Hey mate, tough luck out there bud. I notice there is not one thumbs down for the video though. Even on a tough night, we all still love the content. Thanks for sharing as always, even the "not so good" times. Dad's ute will be back faster and stronger man. Great stuff.
