Stihl MS250 real world first cut and impressions

Just purchased the MS250 chainsaw for a partially downed tree in my yard. It has a lot of power and is light enough to maneuver around. I would recommend spending the extra money and get a tool for life. I forgot to wear my hearing protection even though it was on my head.

I have 3 Stihl chainsaws. An MS 180, MS 250, and an MS 390 for felling and blocking.
I live on a farm in Iowa with 110 acres of heavily wooded forest. The forest is very mature and has some huge trees. I cut a downed white oak 3 years ago that was 40 inches across. Cut another white oak last year that was a sampling when the civil war was being fought.
I had my wood splitter customized with a boom to handle the big blocks. Now I can split them alone.
The MS 250 is a tried and true version that Stihl has made for decades. It used to be the 025. I am very pleased with mine other than the easy start feature. Don't particularly like that.
I mad a mount for my MS 250 and it stays on one of my John Deere tractors when I go to the woods.
Enjoy your saw. If you take care of it, it will last a very long time.

I agree with most of the comments. It was my first time using a chainsaw and made a few mistakes. I have since moved to a nice piece of property where I use my saw a lot. It has held up extremely well and starts easy like when it was brand new. That is one of the reasons I bought a Stihl. I only run Tru Fuel and have zero problems with it. Remember to keep a sharp chain. A saw is only good as its chain. Cheers

I am glad that you are getting decent service out of your MS-250 saw. The one I have never performed as I expected, and had to return to my old Poulan saw which really works fine still. Recently, I purchased a Poulan Pro saw and is about to use it to see how fine it works. After the problems I have with the Stihl saw I will never purchase another one, but my saws are used around the home, and for cutting up dead trees on our property.

Let that saw warm up before you start cutting. You will eventually see why if you always use it like that. I just bought the same saw this morning. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet. And yeah that chain is too tight. Mine came the same way from the dealer. Loosen it bout a half turn

At 14, 000 RPM the Stihl MS 250 is an amazing, all around saw.

Hearing protection never made it around the ears.  I like having a constant reminder of danger.

that chain is way to tight you loose about 30-40 percent of the power when its to tight

Excellent skills. What length bar on the saw? Appears longer than my MS 250.

How did you pull start it so smoothly?
My dad’s new MS250 has so much resistance.. and the starter pawls keep breaking on him.

I can tell by the sound her how fast the chain comes to a stop that's way to tight

You can just cut straight up from the bottom. Its literally made for it
