Something funny, I went back and rewatched all the trailers from the Forest and for sons, and I gotta say, I like the way you crash in the first trailer for SOTF way more than what it is now. It had a more jumpscare horror vibe to it.

The floorboards on the raft likely share the same textures because they're using a trim sheet (or at least a pre-baked texture set) for log structures. It reduces GPU and memory load. On a technical level, making all the logs have different textures wouldn't be difficult, but it would either be less optimized or end up looking worse if they needed to have more variants of the logs.

Wish they would've brought back the first games customization options for custom effigies. They neutered custom effigy building so badly in sons of the forest.

Hey fark, check out the "detection" mechanism in far cry 3-4-5 like games,

NPC ai can detect when player is clearly visible & can't when hiding behind stuff, I think you'd find interesting😮

I look forward to seeing your game progress. It's such an exciting idea and I've been having fun dabbling in different games from my usual.

I wonder if you (or fellow followers like me) would like Grounded. You can place blueprints and even click and drag to make larger platform, floor, or wall areas. If you have pallets with building materials you don't even have to carry the items to place them. The building reminds me of The Forest and finally helped me scratch that itch again, even if you can't make the shapes as unique it has a decent range of options. The weapon system is pretty interesting too, a wide range of weapons actually can work well, although melee tends to be better in single player and ranged as one part of a team.

The amount of things finally added years after that should have always been there is crazy. Building is way worse than the forest, and i agree on wanting to replay it. 2 years later I just tried and 2 hours in I switched to the forest.

There's still a lot more that could be added, either being brought over from The Forest, or as fun inclusions/QoL updates.

I wish that cooking worked like The Forest, where you'd throw whatever in the pot and you could make a meal of it. I don't mind having recipes, but I do miss being able to make a stew with two aloe, four meat, and three fish.

Proper cannibal patrol routes. I've had a handful of times where I'm crouched in a bush while wearing a full set of leaf armor, and there's a group of cannibals making a steady bee-line for me no matter the direction I go. I would also like to just sit and watch as cannibals do their rounds around their area of residence, or get ready to go to war with a rival tribe to maybe take over their camp, or fend off a mutant attack.

The inclusion of the other unique outfits from The Forest as other outfits to find in Sons of The Forest (Bathrobes found in the Spa, Pilot uniform found near another crashed plane or helicopter, etc), as well as new ones. I'd really like an outfit that's just you/Kelvin removing the jacket to wear a t-shirt. It would increase comfort (not as much as the PJ's), but understandably lower your wetness protection and your thermal insulation. Let Virginia also wear the stewardess uniform, I think she'd look good in it.

I love Sons of The Forest, and I hope that Endnight keeps delivering a lot of cool updates and fix the game as needed. I think that the drawing blueprints being added back in for the defensive walls is a great fix to the building system, and one of the changes I was excited for the most (aside from Kelvin and Virginia being more willing to swim, and being better at it too). I just gotta wait for when they finally let Virginia ride in the carts with you and Kelvin
