EDIT: This comment gained more attention than I ever expected. Just if it were the same with my YouTube channel...

You should have said that Android is actually a Linux distribution and iOS comes from BSD.

Chrome os is based on gentoo-linux, android use the linux kernel (so these 2 are a sort of linux distro), macos use the freebsd kernel side by side the mach kernel

Linux Mint is very beginner friendly.

Compared to Windows 11, you are not forced to use an online account. You are not forced to buy a license to use it. You can share it. You can use it on old PCs, without a need to check if your devise is compatible. You can be safe, when downloading software.

This is very beginner friendly.

About linux gaming is not very true, but true. Many Valve games ported to Linux after releasing of Windows 8, SteamOS is linux-based OS, also Steam for linux include proton - specific extended version of Wine (Windows not-emulator for Linux), which allow to play (in ~95% cases) windows games on Linux. Many games nowadays cross-platform and have Win, Mac and Linux support.
Commands is easy to remember, it's not like chinese language or something. Also installing OS, updating software and install new software is nowadays not much difficult whan same actions on Windows.
One of major downside of Linux -- rooted not to Linux, but to some software companies, that not make linux version of very important apps, like Adobe programs, SolidWorks, Corel Draw etc. Also sometimes Linux have problems with video drivers, but nowadays this problem is less notable.
Sorry for bad english, I proud of myself that I use Google Translate 0 times for this comment)

Classic Mac OS, the predecessor to MacOS X was actually from 1984, a year before Windows's launch. By the way, the first GUI operating system according to google was XEROX Alto (1973)

A good video for a newbie.

Linux is built on top of unix kernel and android is built on top of Linux kernel. Even MacOs also used unix kernel.

Unix and Linux was built to make it robust and developer and enterprise friendly systems. As an experienced IT engineer, I love this OS.

Linux is actually very user friendly depending on the distro youre using. Some distros have a destop gui built in(desktop environment) and the terminal isnt too hard to use

Mac os wasn't introduced in 2001, version 10 was released in 2001.

actually the most used "OS" (even though it's a kernel, not an OS) is Linux, 99% of the world servers run on Linux, and Android, the most popular OS overall, is made on the Linux kernel, ChromeOS is as well

and macOS dates form 1984 not 2001, and while it is based on Unix, it also borrows aspects from FreeBSD, to the point it even shares some terminal commands with Linux, it has nothing to do with Linux's popularity but it's related to both macOS and Linux so it's an interesting fact

As a Linux guy I laugh when people say this is better and that is worse. lol. An OS is just a platform to start your work and all OSs have their strength and weaknesses and get the work done. Today even more so. So it’s ridiculous to put down preferences.
Esp Linux folks should know that given Linux is about choice including choice of the OS itself

Linux can absolutely be one of the most stable if not most stable if you aren’t using anything too bleeding edge. This is one of the big reasons why almost all web servers use Linux as OS (aside from easy customization and performance, especially with paralleled operations and unusual hardware configurations)

Forgot to mention OS/2, quite popular during the early 90's

Linux will always be my preference. In the early days it was tough. I bought a copy of Linux for dummies and Linux mandrake 7.2. I got it running on a 500mhz compaq laptop. I had to buy a hardware modem, I picked up a hayes. Man it was so fun back then.

Thank you for the bite-sized info! 🎉 Nowadays, I notice many users are choosing Linux because it offers a variety of desktop environments, making it simpler and less complicated to use

FreeBSD rising in popularity as a desktop OS lol. Apparently the Linux communities (reddits/stacks etc) are so divided, cooperation is out the window. FreeBSD forum is probably the most warm welcoming and willing to help. More Linux users are switching over to avoid the CoC and other drama. The nice thing is, they can bring all their projects right on over without having to change anything. There's also a Chinese fork of WINE specific to FreeBSD that gives the middle finger to "Clean Room Criers", it's very useful ;) ;) ;)
