WOW, thank you Mr. Rich for finally getting him to say it.

Jordan you’re one of the main factors that rather subconsciously prompted me to begin my journey back to the cross years ago while I still wandered lost in my agnostic desert. Then my son was born in December 2021 and that was the lightning bolt that connected me to the transcendental and the supernatural in a way I had never experienced before. Then it was a straight line back to the church’s open doors. But you were arguably the first real on-ramp back onto the highway to my salvation.

I, like you, am also an analytical thinker. I often find it more comfortable to look at scripture as a metaphor. But I’m slowly coming to grasp with the notion that to do so is, in and of itself, a form of intellectual hedonism. We want our reasoning and nice, neat, logical conclusions and we want it now. I’m not so sure that that’s what Christ has in mind for us. And therein lies the challenge and the crux of Faith itself.

Unlike myself, you carry the unfortunate burden of being, in a real sense, in your very person, a major cultural symbol of reasoning and logical conclusions. I do not envy you in this regard. But that’s a problem for you to sort out.

I try to dive into the mystery and accept it as such every day because, as mere mortals, we could never possibly understand all of the good Lord’s ways. Even so, as the hymn declares, it is well with my soul. And that’s very intentional. It’s far from natural for me to accept. It’s a decision I make.

Am I a Young Earther? Am I a proponent of creationism? Do I believe Adam was truly the first man and not just the first Homo Sapiens to evolve true enlightened conscience? For me, the jury is still out on things like that. It’s tough. But as my pastor pointed out to me a few weeks ago, those aren’t necessarily “deal breakers”. The most important thing to believe in is the Resurrection. And that’s already hard enough to wrap one’s brain around.

I pray you find clarity and purpose in this dilemma. None of us ever truly “get there”. But we are all, after all, fallen sinners, and the perfect Grace of God exists for that very reason.

And it’s the real meaning of the rainbow, might I add 😉 😂

Thank You John Rich for this witness of love to Jordan. I know that he has many powerfully, intellectually sound and faithful believers who have born a faithful witness to Jordan. Scores are praying for him. Yet, this was by far the most powerful, loving, and direct witness so far! What and answer to our prayer!!!
