Is OCD a brain disease? – Cadabam’s Hospitals
Показать описание
"Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a mental health disorder that is associated with multiple symptoms. These include obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Most people face worries in their daily lives, but people with OCD face a situation where their worries control their lives. The individuals may try to cope with these worries through compulsive behaviors that can disrupt their normal functioning.
There are multiple causes behind OCD. While research has not pinpointed a single cause behind OCD, genetic factors are seen to play a major role. Researchers however have been able to understand that OCD is usually triggered by communication problems within the deeper structures of a person’s brain. This is one of the reasons that increased levels of serotonin can help a person with OCD manage their condition. The research and knowledge do suggest that OCD is both a brain disorder and a behavioral disorder.
