when i was 14 (three years ago), i was hospitalized for three weeks due to severe ocd. it was taking over my life. that's when i was diagnosed with ocd, as well as social anxiety and generalized anxiety.. even though life is a little tough for me, i still love my life! remember that none of you are alone in this!! you guys are all so strong and amazing people!

Does people with OCD feel they have two voices in their head? One that knows what's right thing to do and another that puts all the effort in making sure you don't do the thing right?

I wouldn’t wish OCD on my worst enemy. It is a crippling disorder. I long for the day I don’t suffer anymore.

I remember several years ago I suffered from severe depression and mental disorder. I was addicted to illicit pills, alcohol, and smoking until I was recommended for psilocybin mushroom treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly I'm 8 years clean now. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against anxiety and depression.

OCD can be an absolute nightmare. Sometimes i make jokes about my own in order to kind of feel how unneccesary it actually is.

The overbearing, I get angry and almost cry sometimes. I can control it for months at a time but it always comes back. Its simple, just dont do it, thats the obvious and ineffective answer. ITs born of trauma and anxiety. As anyone with OCD knows, if you ignore a compulsion, your mind goes into a state of anticipating bad things and for relief you give into the compulsion and its never enough.

I never got diagnosed with OCD but my mom told me I had to acknowledge that I had some kind of obsession like this so I could do something about it. It started when I was 9 and I started washing my hands every time I touched something. I got better at the age of 11-13 but now I'm 14 and I wake up at night just to wash my hands. I also get these bad thoughts that are like ´if you don't throw this pen right now your dog will die´. Ive gotten that a lot. More of the symptoms are that I need to check every app in my phone before I go to sleep and check every room in my house, may sound childish but its exhausting. Ive never said anything about this to my friends, probably cause I once had this friend that was such an attention seeker it wasn't even fair. She's not my friend anymore though. When I would tell her I had, for example, lost a family member she would say ´oh yeah I lost like three yesterday´ (real story btw). It made me feel so sick of her and it happened just too often, almost like she had to top me in everything. Therefore, I never told her about my obsession because that is exactly what she'd do. (idk if these examples sound stupid, it´s hard explaining her). Anyways I thought I´d open up about this here in the comment section cause... why not :/

I had OCD years ago, along with stress, depression, and adhd, thinking back my life was a living nightmare, felt like every day I was living in some fever dream, now I beat all of them, and learned to better myself, the reason I was able to beat it though is because I wasn’t led to believe they were incurable, I didn’t even know there was something wrong sith me at the time, thankfully all those thought gradually went away as I grew up and learnt to better my life, and to anyone reading this.. I want you to know that your life will get better.. you just need relax and train your mind.

To hell with those who think it's just "Handwashing 1000 times". It'll REALLY tear your sense of self overtime. Stay strong folks, never stop!

Never thought I had OCD. I thought it was just anxiety. Two days ago I were diagnosed with it.
Few months ago I was diagnosed with cyclothymia. Never heard of it before that day. But it made so much sense in retrospect.
I never thought about those two, just thought I'm depressed and anxious. Turns out I have something completely different from what I thought

Online lectures was really bothering me... I rechecked whether I've submitted my quiz like 100 times..I'm scared if I mistakenly pressed "unsubmit". I made sure to carefully press the home button on my screen.. this whole ritual is exhausting. Then I realized, maybe I do have OCD. I have the same problem with checking doors.
