India’s population to exceed that of China by mid-2023

India is seen to overtake China as the world's most populous country with almost 3 million more people by the end of June 2023.

This is based on the data released by the United Nations Population Fund on April 19.

Compare to China, India's population quality wise poor

India’s population numbers are incorrect for the following reasons:
1. India has no official way of reporting deaths. So the dead never stop being counted as citizens. They are not purged from any list.
2. Most people who have left India and accepted citizenships of other countries are still counted as Indian citizens. As many as 20 million people have left India in the past 50 years.
3. Large number of Bangladeshis and Nepalese are dual citizens holding as many as four aadhar cards to receive Indian welfare benefits.
4. Many people have dual residents of cities and villages.

Villages in India are getting ghost villages as citizens are moving to cities.

In short as much as 5-10% error in census.
