At King Shaka International Airport in KwaZulu-Natal, the much-anticipated, multi-million rand statue of King Shaka Zulu is still ominously missing. The imposing bronze statue has been years in the making but – much like promised housing and infrastructure projects in the province – it has yet to be officially unveiled. In one community, residents are still waiting for government to deliver on its promise of housing and proper sanitation. But contractors abandoned the project many years ago and the land where the houses should’ve been built is empty. Carte Blanche examines whether the trail of broken promises in KwaZulu-Natal will impact how people in these communities cast their votes.

I live in Umlazi working in Pinetown, trust me what they showed here is just 10% of what's happening in Durban! The city will probably be a slum by 2030, Crime rate and drug related violence is scary!! I pray we all vote wisely tomorrow

If you vote for the ANC, EFF or MK, you deserve what you are getting. The DA is doing well BUT is not perfect. All you have to do is look at the townships in the WC. Overall though, the DA is doing a decent job though thry could do more. However parties such as ActionSA and Bosa could also be viable options.

Every town or city being led by ANC is not functioning properly. The corruption, negligence and having no willingness to fix Durban is making Ethekwini one of of the most undesirable places to visit. ANC is killing Ethekwini tourism and the city itself.
