Herbal Medicine: Oregano Infused Oil

In this video, Ive decided I want to learn how to make simple herbal remedies. Things to hopefully prevent bad things from getting worse or even better, keeping a simple cut from turning into an infection. So I started with oregano infused oil. This is a highly sought after, surprisingly expensive oil to buy. So I figure if I have enough oregano outside, which I do, I can start making something else with it besides just drying it for eating. Oregano oil has been long used as a method to fight bacteria and candida fungal issues.

Part 2, using this to make an Oregano Salve:

Here is some of my research to show why Im doing this:

Good video, but would add this tip: when you infuse Extra Virgin Olive Oil, always use dry herbs. Because the oil will pull out the "Good Stuff" from the herbs, but the oil will also pull out any water that is in the plants leaves. That extra water in your oil will cause it to go rancid quicker.

Good information, the only thing that I would do differently is let the oregano dry out in the sun and also, once you combine the oregano with the olive oil, I would put the jar away in a dark place, not put it in direct sunlight. Sunlight is horrible for olive oil.

One of my absolute favorable apocathary/ herbal medicine resource book is the Encyclopedia of herbal medicine! I honestly love the book. It goes over hundreds if not thousands of plants, and gives you detailed instructions on making tinctures teas, salves all that jazz. If you dont have it I highly recommend it

Anthony, for wounds oregano is awesome, but I would have you also ( if you haven't ) look up plantain weed oil/salve. Also comfrey is a powerhouse . I'll shut up now, as I could go non for way too long...

It can also be used orally to kill yeast in the body and infection 😊 two to three drops in a empty capsule

Anthony, thanks . Great video on the infused oil. Now here something, important . My weather numbers are same as Easter weekend for your area. Please keep a eye for baseball size hail, 90 miles, strong rain, flash Floodings, and chance of a F8 Tornado.

we put the leaves and just a little oil in a mortar and pestle and mash it to paste, before jarring it and adding more oil? Asking for a friend

I've always heard to leave it in a cool dark place not a sunny window

My wife makes me take oregano oil capsules (that she makes) every once in a while....yikes.
Is it really a good idea to keep it in the sun for that long?? Maybe. Might not hurt anything. Can't wait to see the end result.
