Functions are the critical concept of precalculus. We aim to emphasize the machine-like nature of functions. In particular, they associate each input with some well-defined output. Aside from this input-output structure, functions are extremely flexible in their construction and conceptualization. In this unit, we model a variety of different viewpoints for thinking about functions.
