Don't you just long for the good old days when all antifreeze was the same. Now there are like 20 types that may or may not have similar color coding and you can't mix together and as far as which one is best for your car, well it depends...

Good effort however...
The main corrosion inhibitor in Prestone extended life coolants is 2-EHA which is proven aggressive to silicon seals. Yes, silicon is being removed at the factory build but the aftermarket is dominated by silicon replacement seals. Secondly, there are 4 technology groups of engine coolants being IAT, Hybrid, OAT, and Lobrid:
IAT...is typically called conventional or universal fully formulated and the fresh premix pH is in the range of 9.8 to 11. Such technologies have a combination of nitrite, nitrate, borate, silicate, phosphate, and a yellow metal protective chemical (azole) in the additive package.
*Hybrid...is typically called HOAT and up until the last few years were IAT with OAT, having usage of borate, and having a typically premix pH in the 7.5 to 9.0 range.
OAT...is typically called extended life coolant. These coolants are without inorganic additives (mineral corrosion inhibitors). OAT coolants meeting the GM requirements for an OAT coolant are known as Dexcool Approved. Dexcool is an approval process not a coolant brand. Due to approval requirements a GM Dexcool Approved coolant will contain 2-EHA. A Typically OAT coolant will have a premix pH in the 7.5 to 9.0 range as fresh product.
Lobrid... this technology group in North America is confused with OAT to simplify marketing. Lobrid is an OAT dominate coolant formulation supplemented with IAT: POAT, NOAT, OAT-Si, P-Si-OAT...such as Honda, Toyota, Komatsu Super Coolant; CAT ELC, Prestone Command; VW/Audi G13_, Volvo G64 andAudi G65 and get ready Peak Final Charge Global. Most OEM factory fills are Lobrid coolant but for marketing purposes many Lobrid coolants are called OAT.
*Many source coolant makers in NA have turned their IAT coolants into high pH Hybrids by adding some OAT to the chemistry to help the coolants be resistant to CAB flux overspray residual contaminates found in new aluminum cores using that manufacturing process. All of the Cummins Fleetguard IAT products have been tweaked but you need a lab to see the difference.
Point is for straight talk about coolants Manufacturers/Vendors/OEMs are not going to go beyond a benefit to their own marketing.

He also said to follow the manufacturers recommended flushing procedures before changing coolants. Didn't say a thing about mixing backward compatible coolant to current coolant.

Look!
The best option is always the coolant ready to use.
The water added to the system must be "Demineralized" and "Deionized" because otherwise it will be adding salts and ions that bring serious problems, mainly to modern engines that work at higher temperatures.
Ordinary water contains salts and ions that produce electric current in the motor, interfering with the operation of the electronic control unit.
Coolant manufacturers always add pure water to avoid this problem.

I am so glad I watched this video. I walked into an O'Reilly shop and asked the cashier for coolant with the specification that was listed in my owner's manual. I thought I ruined my vehicle when I noticed (after I poured) that the coolant already in my car was a different color than what the cashier gave me.

Toyota not only build cars but produce the best universal coolant that is for all types of cars.

Toyota being a humble manufacturer never claim anything but i certainly reccomend toyota coolant for your cars because i have been using it for years.None of the cars that i bought and sold over the years needed the engine to be rebuilt or overhauled.Yes.

Antifreeze technology is the most importan information you have to know when buying coolant, but it's not labeled, not even in small letters.

Why Prestone not reveal ingredients back of label? What does it contain, not contain. Is it OAT, HOAT, POAT?

Thx, but i am seriously looking to just feel more comfortable about how i pour it in verses when i need to bring it in for an actual flush. Im frightened that ill pour it in and it will steam up like a cloud of a chemical disaster.

Very informative, but I still have my doubts on which Coolant is the right one for my car,
How many Preston do you have that is compatible with DEXCOOL? I found my Buick Enclave using a green/yellow one, but I have no idea which does it has right now and if I should change it to the Orange one.
I prefer not to change to the Orange if possible, but I would like to know form the experts.
Thank you.
