CCTV footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows the moment Wayne Couzens stopped Sarah Everard. The then Metropolitan police officer later burned her body to try to hide his crimes, including kidnap, rape and murder. Couzens used his warrant card and handcuffs to ensnare Sarah Everard under the pretence she had breached Covid rules before killing her with his police belt, a court was told at the opening of a two-day sentencing hearing. Couzens pleaded guilty to the kidnap, rape and murder of Everard at earlier court hearings.

The police force were aware of his pervert behaviour but they chose to turn a blind eye They knew he was a danger to women but the concerns were not raised . All these failures resulted in a devastating consequences for the young Sarah Everard . Someone at the top of the Met has to pay for this failure .

I feel sick seeing this footage. When he detained her maybe she thought to herself 'it's okay. This is a misunderstanding' because of course we're told to trust police officers with our safety and well being. And then he destroyed her. I am not the type of person to have these sorts of thoughts, but I truly wish the worst for him. I detest that man with every fibre of my being. I curse him, and all other men who are so depraved that they would do such a thing to another human being. I hope he never feels any joy, nor happiness, nor any slither of comfort for the rest of his days.

The Metropolitan Police Force has many questions to answer. One matter to be explained is why Wayne Cousins became a Diplomatic Protection Office after only a couple of years service and how rigorous was the screening for entry to this specialised role.

Everytime I have reported an incident to the police they never investigated- my force has a non detection rate of 95%-they shelf have the cases in the first few days to massage numbers- I won a police complaints commision complaint against the Met-but they still continue each day repeating their illegal activities they are so corrupt or innefficient (you decide). Call the police or a take away see which one arrives first. Most people get a victim of crime letter and no recourse from the police for serious crimes officers sit it out and get their pensions and pay regardless of performance. The police now protect criminals and oppress the honest public- that has been my experience time and time again, I was a law lecturer at college-I would explain to the police what statutes had been broken and still they would refuse to investigate- what chance have everyday victims got? My uncle bought our family home off my father ( his brother during a divorce of my parents - I was aged 7 in 1975 ) and we were evicted as children- my mother threatened by him in the 70's- he was a Met offficer and could do whatever he wanted - employing violence to get us out the house ..we ended up on my maternal grandparents sofa..what has changed?? I now live in Sussex and watch the police during Brighton Pride dancing like the village people in painted cars- no crimes have been investigated, (99.999% of crimes go without a conviction - google your force's detection and conviction rates).

I find Boris Johnson’s comments and lack of compassion in this death utterly disgusting. What a slap in the face to the parents of Sarah. If Boris can’t show compassion he should step down. These comments surly have to be the last straw. I don’t find a death amusing or funny at all but perhaps that’s just me.

Only uniform officer should attend arrest. No transportation of suspect till a uniform officer is presenting
