Canada examining additional travel measures for essential workers: Transport minister

The Canadian federal government announced new international travel restrictions last week aimed to discourage non-essential travel during the coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview with ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson, Canada’s transport minister Omar Alghabra says “we are now examining additional measures for essential workers.

We’d have to customize something for them where they’re still able to do their work. But, a regime of frequent testing, et cetera, they’re all on the table.”

Rapid testing should be the limit. Only 7% of all covid deaths are from covid alone. 93% of all covid related deaths had at least 1 co-morbidity. Over 50% of all covid related deaths had at least 2 co-morbidities. We can take care of those most vulnerable, AND get back to work/play.

Restrict interprovincial travel to essential travel which should include caregiving, work needs.
Require vaccine or test prior to air travel within Canada.
