What about the people who are employed but making less than $2000

What about those who can't get a job now because of the damage of CORVID-19? The seasonal job I had lined up was canceled because of the outbreak.

Instead of practicing “Social Distancing” maybe Canadians should start practicing
‘Economic Distancing’ starting with China.

What about new small business who were schedule to open in March of this year but couldn’t due to the crisis shutdown? We still need to pay rent & utilities!

I am not impressed. They should of had a universal basic income program. My son has had their hours reduced to 15-20 hours, now earning less than 2K a month and unable to meet his financial commitments. So now there are some people who were earning less than him before COVID who are now eligible for the 2Kmth and now earning more than him a month. Something needs to be done and offer a top up to the 2K as this is totally unfair. My other son who is a student is also now unable to work now for tuition. They are NOT taking care of ALL Canadians and have missed the boat here!!!

Another day and yet no answers for so many. As many have pointed out, there are so many categories that are still not covered:

1. Seniors (perhaps they had family members helping them financially or in other ways that have now had to stop because of lost jobs, quarantine etc.)
2. Disabilities (people that have short or long term disabilities that have been or always been out of work)
3. Temporarily unemployed (people that had not worked in 2019 due to injuries or other circumstances that had planned to start working again summer of 2020)
4. Dependents (Households that have dependents that don't qualify for cerb or E.I.)

There are just too many categories to list them all. In my opinion, they should just convert it into a U.B.I. system. EVERYONE is being told to stay home and yet not everyone is making enough money to continue staying home.

I know everything is based on goodwill and I shouldn't have the attitude.... I'm a contract worker, my weekly pay is less than $500 and hasn't got laid off (working hours is between 12~20 weekly and now is the minimum hours)... and most of my friends around me they all get $500 per week...

Can you please cut highlight clips out and post them!
This video is 3.5 hours long and everything is repeated in french, no need for some of us to hear everything twice when most of us don't use both languages regularly.
CBC help us get the most important information quickly so we can make decisions for us and our families.
We can't sit hear watch this for almost 4 hours. That is not helping us in the best way.

Why has no one asked what is being done to assist seniors and those with disabilities ?

To CBC reporters I know that there are a lot of questions that you want to ask the PM at the daily press conferences. Why has no one asked about how they are helping people on fixed incomes, that are on long term disability, that are not seniors? Every day JT says the students need this and that. Well I have been on a fixed income for 12 years. I live in Toronto, alone.
I don’t qualify for any of the benefits that he has announced. Not even the tax credit refund, cause I have to pay taxes every year.
I can barely feed myself( food prices have gone up) and I am short this month. Ask him what the government is doing for me and thousands of Canadians like me.

Stay safe, be well

As far as I'm concerned, this is not the time to ask why the government did not do this or that. Those questions can be asked later, if necessary, but now is the time to focus on what the government IS doing. I think they're doing a grenat job.

My husband is disabled and on odsp..up until covid..I worked..im now unable to continue working because of covid 19... My understanding is if I apply for the cerb..it will be deducted off of my husband's odsp..and then at the end of the year I would be taxed on what I receive..how is this helping me.

Can we just make UBI that hands everyone $1000/month for the foreseeable future?
The Canadian central bank can simply print the money... It doesn't cost them anything (its mostly electronic nowadays).

Once we can get back to < 7% unemployment, we can see if this can get reduced or dropped, to avoid massive inflation and devaluation.

What about jobs for non students, who want employment? Some retired people had to keep working because they don't make enough, to live, they lost their jobs too?

Still nothing for seniors who are on fixed incomes. Seniors who supplement their meagre pensions. Seniors who rely on rental income from investment properties for their income, period. Funny how he constantly pays lip service to the protection of the most vulnerable and ( please stop! ) "we'll here for you " BS. The countries' seniors are a vulnerable group and they have been ignored or hung out to dry.

The unemployment insurance system was so designed for situations such as Originally that is why it was created. To prevent Canadians from losing everything like they did during the great depression. That is the spark that fired alot of social programs in Canada.

Real question what about grocery or pharmacy workers (or all essential workers for that matter) making less than 2000$? Do people who are currently not working suddenly get to make more than them while being safe in their homes?
