The murder trial of Derek Chauvin continued on Thursday (4/8). Chauvin is charged with the May 2020 death of George Floyd.

During day nine of testimony, prosecutors called Dr. Martin Tobin to the stand, a physician in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Chicago Hines VA Medical Center.

During his time on the stand, Dr. Tobin explained in detail how the lungs take in air and how a knee on George Floyd's neck, combined with other factors, prevented Floyd from taking in enough oxygen to breathe properly and, in his words, ultimately led to his death.

Did it keep going quiet so we wouldn't hear the attorney say "Oh shit!" to every answer he got?

Just because you are getting air through your vocal chords does not mean you are getting oxygen to your aveoli or co2 out of the bloodstream. It's called spO2, the overall amount of oxygen in the blood, and when that drops to low The body begins to die. If you haven't been in an ICU you likely don't understand death due to hypoxia is a process that can take minutes or even days. The oxygen remaining in the body gets shunted to crucial organs as the body slowly becomes overcome: using more oxygen to breathe than the lungs can replace The body slowly shuts down due to hypoxia and acidification (as CO2 builds up) of the muscles controlling the breathing start to fail, so that each breath is less effective than the last. That's why his last breaths were with his arms and fingers. Every other muscle was spent. He let the last air out of his lungs, cried out, and died as a result of the knees on his neck and back.

The defence don't stand a chance against the knowledgeable, friendly, precise, Irish doctor. Its making me almost feel sorry for the defence, almost but not quite!!!

Let's be clear: even a person with NO drugs in his system, strong heart, and calm demeanor; would have died UNDER Derrick Chauvin
(no pun intended) extreme "overt" conditions!

“And that’s going to effect blood flow.. in a person, right? It’s going to make the body work a little harder to get the blood to through the body?”
“No, not really. Its not going to do that.”

Was this cut off early? Why wouldn't cross examination question use of Fentanyl in conjunction of lack of oxygen instead of just preexisting health conditions?

Dispute this
“Unless you're actively being attacked, release your choke hold after 10 seconds. 15 seconds is the maximum amount of time that you can apply pressure to the neck without risking permanent damage. If you've correctly applied pressure to the neck's major arteries, your opponent should go limp after 5-9 seconds.” 😂
HE LASTED MORE than 1 minute!

Like why would you're respiratory rate be slower if your body is working HARDER to pump oxygen? You're heart would be beating faster, leading your respiratory rate to be increased, rather than decreased.
