We went with the kids (5, 8) and they were gripped and it immediately became their favourite movie.

I have to agree with them. Of all the films we have watched as a family, this was the most fun.

Ever since I saw House of Gucci on opening weekend and saw the hilariously accurate clips of Marks Jared Leto as Pablo Gucci impression I’ve been Fan casting that performance in the central voice role here ever since.
I actually had a pretty good time with the film. I’m sure plenty will absolutely hate everything about it authentic on principle but it was zippy and fun enough that I didn’t really care. I did get a kick out of seeing just how many game mechanics they could shove into 90 minutes (even if it feels like you’re being Guinea Pif testers for wherever the inevitable sequels and spin-offs go.)

I watched this movie flying back home to Japan. It's complete fluff but actually I don't think it's badly done, it ties the various Nintendo characters' universe together pretty well and there are some nice touches like Mario playing an NES and some of the posters in their home in the Mushroom Kingdom call back to old NES classics and odd ball games like Urban Champion I think. So I felt it tied things together nicely especially with the addition of Spike right from the beginning was a nice touch. I listened to it with the Japanese voice cast and felt it was an enjoyable mindless 90 minutes. Would I watch it again, maybe, but I wouldn't hurry. A solidly average 5/10 animated movie from me.

Huge gamer and Mario fan here! The movie was full of references for people like me, and it had one or two chuckles, but it was mostly vacuous drivel. Like Mark said, not “bad” but hardly good.

Saw the movie with my nephew earlier. We both enjoyed it and found it to be fun.

As I was watching the movie, and trying not to get distracted by the many Easter eggs, I started to wonder if this was, in part, a secondary device for Nintendo to advertise Super Nintendo World.

If think this was a step in the right direction for Nintendo, and I think we will be seeing plenty more Nintendo themed movies, but maybe ones with a sole focus which would help to improve the narrative.

Can you imagine a Super Smash Bros Movies?

Watched in Europe on 4DX /3D with the family, it was a lot of fun in this format and moved along briskly.

The movie got the right balance of appealing to kids for obvious reason, but also to adults who played the games with sufficient fan service
