Can’t wait for the pitch meeting. “It’s going to be hard for Luther to get out of prison”
“Actually it’s going to be super easy. Barely an inconvenience.”

My favourite trashy line: 'They're going to kill you, John.' 'I can live with that.'

The part where Luther and his boss caught a cross channel ferry from Dover and ended up in Norway reminded me of when Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman took a walk to Nottingham from the south coast via Hadrians wall in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves...

my thoughts and prayers go out to whoever smuggled that massive phone into prison for him.
it just can’t have been worth it.

It was completely ridiculous but I enjoyed it. It was nice to see Luther again and be back in that universe.

So, Luther can punch his way through a whole prison wing that are trying to kill him but he can't handle Andy Serkis, who weighs as much as a wet tea towel??
And mobile phones work under water?
And by god, that coat must've stank, being in the boot of a manky Volvo for 7 years.

In this movie Luther is Batman Andy Sekis is the Riddler. It then makes sense

Loved the series and loved the film, too. Luther IS my favourite super hero.

just paused Luther halfway through as I remembered seeing there was a take in my notifications for it-Ive been in hysterics laughing at the script, the hairpiece and the cartoonish pace.
What on earth were they thinking! truly dreadful stuff.

Well I enjoyed it. Nothing else was on this Friday, and it filled the void.

Broke out of prison. Decides to stand on top of a building.

I doubt anyone who saw the TV show is going into a Luther movie expecting searing realism... and, yes, The Fallen Sun manages to make the whole saga even more ridiculous, but it was enjoyable if you can not so much suspend your disbelief as hang it from the nearest lamppost and beat it with a baseball bat...

If you hadn't seen the TV shows, you wouldn't have a clue who he was and why he was imprisoned. They should've done more back story.

No, I totally disagree. Yes, the plot is daft and full of holes but it's extremely entertaining if a little dark. The bad guy is ott, the script full of contrivences designed to get things from A to B but it's no more ridiculous or over the top than something like Skyfall. Really enjoyed it and hope Luther will be back for more

I loved Luther's explanation of why those people were killing themselves. Had me laughing until I almost went blue in the face,

Don’t let this stop you watching the series though, the series is brilliant

It seemed to me as if they copied the villain scenario with the blackmail from the Black Mirror series, it was almost verbatim the same episode at times… Idris Elba was amazing as always in this role, and I think he did the best with what he was given.

The villain for me was a major downpoint of the movie, he just seemed over the top, being evil for the sake of being evil without any real motivations (other than his supposed teeth chattering anxiety episodes) which is really lame.

I agree with Mayo and Kermode as well, in regards to the pacing of the movie, it was very much a case of going from point A to point B without any thought of how we got there.
