Should you buy the hood for your Barbour Bedale Beaufort or Border?

So you need to tension the toggles all the way and bend the wire around your forehead. This combination will prevent the hood from falling off from wind or movement and secure it in place. Hope this helps

I’ve got a new classic Bedale, didn’t buy the hood and will probably regret it. Did a little pub crawl round Soho with a mate, both in Olive Barbours (his is an older make) no hood while in torrential rains. We both had umbrellas which we also didn’t bother using. We must’ve looked a sight but the coats were brilliant and looked superb. Sorry just thought I’d share. Probably will get the hood.

First thing I did was to cut the massive label off. Otherwise a good accessory for the jacket

My latest Barbour is a Beaufort, bought new without tags £106 via ebaya few weeks back.
I went looking for a hood and they are going £25 or more second hand .
I then found a waxed hood, attached but detachable to a New Forest brand of waxed jacket that was delivered earlier
£16 inc p&p in perfect condition, the coat is identical to a Bedale other then the lining and I have a hood!

I have owned a few Barbour's, a friend has a Dickies wax jacket that he has worn for 9 years .
IMO i think you are paying for the name as other waxed jackets are just as good but cheaper .

Barbour Beaufort a must-have. Canada Goose Langford parka a must-have, and the KUIU Yukon rain jacket for the trifecta of must-haves.

thinking on getting one, but upon watching this they really need to work out the hood design.Imagine if someone just grabs your hood and runs haha. Also the label and fastening strings have horrible placement.Very inconvenient.
Big question (for me): Can you store the hood in the Beaufort game pocket? I would like to store the hood there, just in case it rains. Would the volume be noticeable?

Nice hood! Does each model of jacket has a correspondent hood? I see the lining of that is the same as my Bedale... Thanks for the video! I didn't know it had a wire to give it shapes...

Colour doesn’t match because the jacket isn’t a classic. All classic’s are olive.
