One of my favorite scenes in the whole Trilogy "The first transport is away" and the Rebels cheering with a fist pump, I felt that sh!t now the way I felt it in 80'.

That scene still gives me goose bumps! The music and effects - reminds me that these movies were as painstakingly and lovingly assembled like the finest Rolls-Royce’s of the day.

As a non-еnglish speaker, I remember the phrase "the first transport is away" since my childhood in the 90s, understanding its meaning even then..

It’s that way everyone in the control pauses to watch, like this is their only hope and they know it. Subtle but brilliant directing.

Those cannon shots sound SO awesome with a subwoofer!

I always use that phrase when I go fishing - "Good! Our first catch of the day!" 😅

I will never forget the line, "the first transport is away" and the cheers of the rebels as the ships escape into space. As a child I would reenact this scene with my toys, or riding my bike thru the neighborhood, or drawing it on paper. The sequence is etched in my mind forever and was responsible for my vivid imagination. Everytime I watch ESB I get goosebumps. Just perfect movie magic and quite impresionable on children of the time - like me.

That ion cannon fried that Star Destroyer's circuits! Nice shooting, Ion Control, now don't get cocky.

That scene when the ship ran past that damned destroyer - as a kid, my hair on my arms RAISED and I still remembered that. Good times.

one of my favorite scenes in all of cinema. i love the explanation that even if the rebels lose the battle of Hoth they know that a transport made it to safety and will carry on their legacy if they fail.
this along with Back to the future where 1955 doc sees that his invention works and he cheers are top cinema that i could watch on loop and never get bored of it

I love the sound of that powerful V-150 Planet Defender Ion Cannon the Alliance uses against the Star Destroyer 𝘛𝘺𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵. For the Republic!

The closed caption has the Imperial officer saying, "Rubber ships are coming into our sector!"... LOL!!!

I've always liked the Ion cannon.. big ball of "Back Off!"

This scene shows how good music can tell the story as well as dialogue can. Star Wars trivia: the gunner's character name is Toryn Farr. The character survived the battle and escaped the planet. In theory, she could appear again in future stories.

That imperial captain was so confident he had the rebels then that ion volley knocked him down to size

Not even a minute and the scene is perfect. The shadows on the actors, the music, and the simple yet dramatic dialog. It all felt real.

Movies these days are trying so hard that they come off as artificial.

Such a satisfying scene! Imagine if every Rebel warship had one of those cannons mounted onto them.
