One big advantage that Light has over other characters like L and Near is his sociability and charisma. He's able to emotionally manipulate and charm people to do his bidding/believe him in a way that the ultra socially awkward and isolated L and Near are not able to. It's this strong sense of charisma and emotional intelligence that helps fool so many people for so long, and gets useful assets like Misa and Takada to do what he wants. And his understanding of the emotional motivations of people is what allows him to manufacture the situation where Rem feels pressured to kill L to save Misa.

L Is smarter than light the only reason why light was able to defeat him was because L doesn't fully comprehend how the death note truly works from the beginning, L only found out the truth when it was the end,
Near only had the upper hand because he already received truth after L died about the death notes ability, but if it wasn't for mello he'd be in a difficult situation

i agree L being smarter than light, I always missed L in the last episodes, near was not even close to light and L's IQ.

Lemme clear this out, Near said in the anime that he himself couldn’t beat L/Ryuzaki Without Mellos help, So L is better than Near and Mello, And I also believe that L is as smart as Light or smarter, There are many reasons like if L knew about the Shinigamis And the Death note, he would’ve probably beaten Light, Plus L had suspicion on Light when nobody else did, Near and Mello only finished L’s Job, L’s Job was like 70% done, Knowing about the Shingami and Death-note is a huge advantage for L and any other Detective, Near and Mello, I’m only saying this because many people think that L isn’t as smart as Light or Near or even Mello, Which is honestly stupid, without L it would’ve took much longer to figure out who Kira is, And just wanna clear out that im not really a Stan of L, just wanted to share my opinion.

Manga has already stated light is smartest then next is near and L is 3rd in raw intelligence
