Organic Carrot, apple and beat juice together is amazing.

Problem is though that your healthcare professional likely knows absolutely NOTHING about the subject of diet snd nutrition as they spent very little time studying it in med school.

I've been eating a lot more beets over the past few years, choosing to avoid the beet juice because it's removing the fiber and all that... but it's so hard to eat such a large volume of food... I might try beet juice. Thanks for posting!

Awesome, placebo controlled study. Anecdotally I've noticed wonders with beets, both for my exercise performance and my nighttime breathing!

Where would beets be positioned on the clean fifteen/dirty dozen scale? Does simply eating beets have comparable effects? Raw or cooked?

I eat beetroots like an apple 🍎. But first I cut the skin off and discard it and then eat a medium or large freshly cut beetroot. They do have a tendency to stain with their dark red or lightly purplish color. And when you have to go you go red 😊.

Does Natalie's orange & beet juice work? Or does it need to be raw juice to see benefits? Thanks!

Beets are wonderful.
Meat is also healthy for many people.

Thank you PBN. Jay Kordich RIP had a beetroot juice recipe that I think works very well. It was one half beet and 3 apples. I think anyway.

There are also dangers of high nitrate intake, like cancerogenous nitrosamine formation - though higher in nitrate from (processed) meat and added nitrate. The WHO and EFSA have established a safe upper level of 3.7 mg total nitrate intake per kg body weight and day - some 250mg / day.
That is about the typical amount in 100g of either spinach or beet root - though concentrations vary. Also, many other leafy and root vegetables like lettuce, radish, cabbage, also banana etc and - with volume - most plants already contribute significantly in a plant-rich diet.
Overall, on an already vegetable and whole foods rich diet that upper level is already met by the normal diet and there may not be much room (nor benefit) for adding extra high nitrate foods - particularly on a daily basis. Evaluation may be different for standard diet based on refined foods and for short term / single outcome studies. And further research is needed for better overall risk/benefit valuation for different sources and contexts.

Personally, I limit such consumption to before intense sports here and there. Mostly in the form of spinach (chopped, heated and mixed with Ca source vs oxalate), which has more combined benefits.

Needs to be eaten with calcium rich vegetables because beetroot is high in oxylates
