The parallel with Lucian is what makes his mindset so interesting, at least from my male perspective.
How to love and depend on your partner and how to deal with the lost and promise of getting her back are topics hard to explain but by an example and those two represent opposites ways of dealing with that stress:
Lucian blames himself for not being able to protect Senna and is willing to risk his own life to mend that error and get his loved one back.
Viego blames everyone but himself for the death of Isolde and is willing to risk the life of everyone to get his loved one.
Now we can see the consequences of Lucian's mindset, Senna is back but a part of her died inside the lamp and he knows it yet still cherish having her back.
I'm pretty sure that if Viego got Isolde back she would also have changed quite a lot... Would Viego react the same way as Lucian? Only time can tell... but im pretty sure the moment Isolde don't act as the idealization he has of her Viego would toss her aside by mumbling something like she is not the real Isolde.

In my opinion, Viego is like Lucian. They would do anything to be with their love of their lives and won't stop at nothing. But he's selfish.

To talk about another piece of media for a second, that reasoning is why Kira is my favorite Jojo villain. He's arguably not as strong as Dio or Kars, but you can easily run into a Kira in the real world and that's what makes him so spooky.

Funny enought, Saurons whole motivation is that he thinks that only he can bring order and greatness to what he sees as a chaotic world which ends with him losing his mind, morality, body and sense of reason until he is nothing but a control-freak, a (succsesful!) warlord and a tyrant.
