Singapore chef Hawker Chan is the only chef in the world to get a Michelin star for street food. We tried the chef's char siew pork, which is sticky pork served with rice, during a three-day event in King's Cross, in Central London. The meal cost £6 ($7.95).

People who are complaining that it's expensive must be dense. First of all, he's selling to Londoners, who, last time I checked, aren't earning Singapore Dollars. Not to mention the ingredients that he bought using pounds, and the rental for the truck as well. Besides that, he also flew half the globe and have to also pay for accommodation and transportation while he's there. Even if he's sponsored, somone has to make money in the end no?

This man is humble. Most people would open restaurants and chains but this guy wants to keep it authentic and down to earth

How is $8 too expensive? If there is someone who thinks this is too expensive, they've obviously never tried it. Hawker Chan is my favorite food stall in my country. The flavor in their food tastes so much better than even most fine dining restaurants and that's not even an exaggeration. Their food doesn't just taste cooked. Their food tastes PREPARED. You can't make some simple pieces of pork taste that heavenly without preparing it for hours beforehand.

This translation is extremely NOT on point. Chef specifically mentioned the cut on the pig twice. There is no pork steak. Guy use pork belly and it definitely look fatty.

Mr. Chan is a very typicall "uncle" in Asian hawker. Soft spoken, polite, friendly. Just a humble person :)

When she said the fatty part is horrible I cringed🙄🤦... That's what makes Cha siu so good is when u have some fat mixed in. If there's no fat it's too lean which gets very hard and chewy

Fatty BBQ pork on rice covered with special sauce, eating street side London. Hmmm must be a good feeling.

This was SO good! The sauce wasn't a plain barbecue sauce that is commonly used; it had many layers with distinct sweet and ginger tastes. Omg and the char siu was cooked perfectly! It was so crisp yet tender and had the right amount of flavour! I hope they come back again next year; I would wait an hour and a half again! BEST CHAR SIU FAN I'VE HAD!!!!

Singapore Hawker stands in general are amazing. You will find great food wether you go down the Malay or Indian route at very very reasonable prices, plastic chairs and tables with no silver service is where it is at. Food is one thing in Singapore that can be cheap and cheerful which makes a change to most other things you would buy.

I’ve seen his stand in Singapore, the line was always so long. Seeing this start in London, I was baffled until they introduced him!

I had this! The line for this stall was insane! It wrapped around all the other stalls. But the meat and rice was divine👌perfectly cooked and seasoned
