10 $1.00 Barter Preps for SHTF from the Dollar General
Yea, I went there. And yea, I found 10 prepping items for bartering in SHTF. And now, I hope you can add more items to the list that all cost a dollar!

Bartering may be a very active concept in a post SHTF environment. But stocking up barter items doesn't have to be expensive. There are a lot of $1.00 prepping items at the Dollar General or similar stores that would have a lot of trade value in that kind of scenario. So here is a list of 10 items I picked up just as an example. Please add more to the list in the comments below!

Look at what you have now in your home before spending thousands of dollars. My friends collect all the hotel soaps / shampoos / tooth bushes to give out or believe these could be swapped. A sandwich bag with soap, `shampoo & a tooth brush is priceless in a SHTF scenario.

Not a dollar store item: I've got a few dozen pint bottles of decent whiskey tucked away in storage.
It keeps just fine. Pints are a better trade size than fifths.
I don't drink whiskey. But it's useful for making friends and such.

Ponytail holders will be needed in SHTF

FYI the sleep aids active ingredient is diphenhydramine which is Benadryl which is also an Antihistamine for an allergic reaction.

I got one. Isopropyl Alchohol. Great for medical/sterilization purposes, and can be used to start fires in a pinch.

All this would be great for give away or barter supplies. I'm going to buy a dedicated storage tote and start spending 10$ a week browsing dollar tree just to ad to my supplies. Just because it's affordable and sounds fun. And prepping is one of my favorite hobbys.

Magic the sleep aid you bought is diphenhydramine aka Benadryl. So good for sleep and allergies or allergic reactions.

The sleep aid/Benedryl (sp?) is also good to calm folks if anyone starts getting hysterical due to the situation.

I don't care what you add, but the better savings is to find $25 worth of $1 items, on a Saturday, then use the digital or paper (on your DG receipt), $5/$25 coupon, and get your items for $20. So, .75c per item. They have $1 beans and rice, triple antibiotic ointment, 4 packs of tp, and bandaids there too.

I buy stuff from the dollar aisle at my local Dollar General all the time. Some for barter and other stuff just to stock up on. Some regular purchases are bar soap, hand soap, dish soap, 4 packs of toilet paper, toothpaste, and cleaning supplies like bleach concentrates. I think DG is an underrated source for being able to stockpile basic necessities for an SHTF scenario. Even if that isn’t a real end of world situation, it’s good stuff to have in case of another plandemic when we can no longer get basic items because of over buying by a scared public.

Seattle area, my dollar store has 1/2 pound vacuum packed bricks of coffee. Yeah. Thats a gold mine item right there. Dollar store bleach and disinfectants are also good for some barter

At $1, 25 to $1, 50 you cant beat the tubs of herring . During the collapse of Russia in the 90s they were in major demand because they travelled well and would last virtually forever. Another thing is their chocolate bars .

I live in a very rural part of Appalachia where the local power company has a hard time keeping the lights on when it's sunny out. If a squirrel farts anywhere near, or just in the general direction of a powerline right of way, the lights go out. As a result, I always keep the one dollar garden lights for emergency use. I have other solar lighting options available, but the garden lights are the first to be deployed.

I imagine any medication, toilet paper, any canned food but especially meat and fish, flash lights, batteries, sugar, honey, sanitary items, soap, soup, matches, lighters, water and water filters, sterno, candles, washing up bowl, trash bags, scissors, strong tape like gorilla or duct, plastic sheeting, knifes, seeds, warm coat, sleeping bags and buckets would be tradable.

I stockpiled the DG brand freeze dried fruits for about a year at my local DG until a few months ago. They quit stocking them. They had strawberries, bananas, peaches, and apples. I would damn near buy them out every time my wife sent me for something. Best thing was they were only a dollar and actually had good portions.
