Diagnosis is key. I had a persistant spongy brake pedal, replaced the master cylinder, bled the brakes twice and still no luck. 2 mechanic shops told me I had a bad ABS unit that needed to be replaced. I wasn't convinced so took it to a third mechanic recommended to me by a friend who diagnosed air in the ABS unit and pumped the air out of it. Instant fix, my brakes feel really sharp now at a small fraction of the price quoted by the other two shops. Guess who will be my mechanic from now on.

Stuck caliper sliders too. Piston side pad pushing unopposed against the rotor and flexing it.

How do you test if master cylinder is good/bad or if it might be the ABS modulator?

I have the same problem right now and actually the big problem is the ABS Pump which has a malfunction and I will replace asap.

What about low pad wear? Would that cause more distance pedal travel before brake engagement compared to brand new pads taking less distance pedal travel for brake engagement?

How to release the air in the ABS unit please?
Is does it mean that no need to change the ABS unit ?
My front caliper doesn’t release! And the garage did scanning and there nothing showing in the scanner and also no ABS or other sign showing in the dashboard ( Kia sportage 2015 )
