I've been remote working in IT for 4 years now. Not having to battle traffic day in and out has been beautiful

Productivity is going to take a massive hit for sure, every single time I visit office I can barely get anything done.

This is about power. Businesses just want to control their workers.

Cities need to adapt to changing times and not blame remote work for the city's recovery. Working from home is sustainable, decreases the carbon footprint, traffic, and provides much needed opportunity for housing the homeless in vacant space.

With road rage and gas prices on the rise, if you can work from home, you should be allowed to. If you were able to do it for as long as many ppl have, they should continue to do so.

A recruiter told me other day that this is going to be a thing of the past soon, which to me is unbelievable

Oh I love brawling traffic in the morning and taking a s*** next to my co-workers in the public bathroom in between meetings. I also love being constantly distracted by people walking up to me and asking me questions while I'm busy in the zone doing my work. Having remote workers come back to the office is bad for the business's bottom line. Couldn't get any work done there. I'm way more productive at home

They want to pay you the same salary and expect you to pay for high gas prices, expensive lunches. Another reason to start your own business then work remotely.

Working from home is a skip button for traffic. I love it.

I've realized how much time I've been wasting everyday commuting to office

If you're getting a remote job make sure it's a term in the contract, if it's not, anything can change tomorrow.

Nope. Productivity is Higher than ever.
My employer acknowledged that they’re saving movies of dollars from not having office space. They’ll maintain one small building. However everyone else is eligible for remote work. So it depends on the company and the type of work they provide. I am fully remote and as productive as ever.

Not to worry - this is also an age issue. Once the younger crowd moves forward things will balance out and become more remote again.

It'll be intresting watching them compete for the most talented employee's wanting to work remotely. There has to be an incentive for the employee.

This is why I’m going to keep posting about my company! We need work-life balance.

Currently my company has given the discretion to the managers who can autonomously decide how the hybrid model will work out. There is now an inconsistency within the company on how people come in. I switched departments earlier last year and previously my old manager would have me come in 3 days in a week. My new manager and department has given us the flexibility to come in whenever we want even though he encourages us to come in more often he will NOT force us to come in. I spoke to my other friends in different departments and the rules are different. One friend has to come in minimum once a month, my other friend has a set schedule to come in every other Wednesday and another friend said her department has to come in everyday.

Of course not. It's just some old boys and boomers raging about not being able to control people directly, no trust whatsoever. I remain working exclusively remotely and I will only search for such jobs in the future. No need for me to waste time, energy, money on commuting, having to cope with weird people on site, in massively occupied space. Horrible experience.
