What are your expectations for becoming a remote software developer? Did this video give you any insight into the process?

I like how you're honest about things. That makes you more trustable. After all what we need is reality, not fake promises.

Thank you for your honesty. I'll be truthful and say my main reason for wanting to get into web development was because I wanted to switch careers into something that pays well, doesn't require one to go back for another degree and can be done from anywhere. As I continue to try to learn to code, I've realized that I'm really not that passionate about it. When I'm studying it, I find myself just going through the motions and doing tutorials without any true passion for actually creating things. This video couldn't have come at a more perfect time, as it was the sign I needed to FINALLY be honest with myself and admit this is not the path for me. Thank you for all you do, and good luck to everyone else on their path to becoming a web developer /software developer!

The best about Andy is that he is completely honest, he tells you what you need to be told even if you don't like it. He's not selling you anything like a lot of dudes out there who tells you it's hard but with their course or with whatever they're selling, you'll get there. I'm learning JS right now and web development but I'd like to learn software development with C or something like that later in the future. My dream is quit my job and work from home as a developer. Keep it up, man. You rock. 💪

Excellent advice. My long term goal is to be working from home. Coming out the gate expecting that is not realistic.

First ever programming job starting next week and I have complete freedom to choose where I want to work. Feels pretty good. My home setup is pretty good for programming, and an internship I had before and during the pandemic taught me that I am much happier working from home. Plus no 30 minute commute means I'll have a lot more free time each day. Since I don't eat breakfast, I can literally wake up two minutes before my work starts.

I've been in I.T. for 5+ years and got a taste of working from home and I love it. Now I'm learning to be a full stack developer to work remote in a coupe of years. I'm fluent in SQL and Programming desktop apps, so I'm looking forward to this journey.

Andy, I've discovered your channel recently and I'm so glad I've done so. I'm wanting to change my career and move into software development. At 44 it's going to be rough already and I know this and thanks to your video on learning after 30 I don't feel so scared about trying. Regarding the remote aspect, this is good information to hear especially for someone like myself where I do live in rural Oklahoma with the closest "major city" being about an hour away. I currently work remote right now in my current position but these points are great for me to ponder regarding working remote when I finally do make the transition to development. I'm not dead set on working from home but it would be much easier and maybe even necessary given my situation but like I said, I'm not super far from a town that may have positions, entry or otherwise so there's that. Thank you for this and all the videos you've done and that I will watch (I'm working my way through all of your videos hehe). Take care and again, thank you!!

Forcing coders to work on campus is quickly becoming control-freak obsolete. The model of textile mill management tactics has been outdated for decades, especially in this field. But most management degrees are stuck in time-motion studies from the industrial revolution, and, damn it, they're going to use it.

After four years I've had a few remote jobs. They're definitely out there. But it definitely takes planning to make sure you stick to a schedule and get work done. It can also be difficult to turn off the work mind at the end of the day.

Another excellent video Andy ima take your lead and try to get a job first and physically work there for a couple of years than maybe work remote. But the most important thing for me is to get some experience.

I honestly got interested because it pays well and I've programmed before. I've always been tech savvy, especially being born in 2001 so I've grown up with technology all around me. Also the field allows for location flexibility with it being an always in demand job so I can general find a job anywhere I desire to move to.

Remote working is a perk that I'd love to have down the line. I think getting some experience in a physical office would help better improve my skills since I'd be new in the field. But I do really well with remote work in general so after I get some experience, I'll definitely be moving on to remote work down the line

Actually that was one of the reason why I started to learn web dev to have a remote job and travelling occasionally when I want. So to be honest it was a bad news for me but I don't give up just because of that. After two years of office working I will still have lots of time to working from home and traveling.
