In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.

Yes chocolate 😄. I’ve been trying to kick my meds by taking more magnesium and vitamins. I have fibro and it’s caused other mental health issues. I’ve been in a bad rut for a couple years now and I’m trying to work my way out. I started exercising recently but taking it light to start building my stamina because I have none.

Thank you so much. For the last week I’ve been going in my backyard and eating the different plants I see, and I feel much better😁

I've been also listening to Motivational Doc and now I'm drinking lemon juice and apple cider vinegar in water every morning before any food and it has lessened the shaking I used to get inside. I eat all plants as a vegan so eat a ton of plants every day; you can even get plant egg powder instead of egg so I can have my favourite scrambled eggs on toast, great!🥰

Not the bad chocolate folks. Good healthy chocolate.

What plants do you eat and where do you buy them? Do you make them in a smoothie or how do you eat them?

What I don’t understand is, if fiber is so important for SCFAs, how is it possible that people going carnivore have their anxiety and depression go away. Many already were keto, so it is not the glucose swings.

Part of my problem is severe food aversion and allergies. New foods are a problem.

Thank you for mentioning the fauna of my gut system! The flowers that live in my colon approve. 😂

A human needs over 15g of fibre each day. An average American gets 3g.

I've been trying to eat 30 different plants PER MONTH....lol. Well, at least I have the chocolate down.

A bit of cocoa powder in your fruity yogurt is great, thank me later!

But doesn't everybody know that a healthy gut comes with a healthy soul and balanced emotions? I am not advocating junk food but really: I get gut problems first and that often first alerts me to emotional problems I am going through. I am an expert at overriding and ignoring painful feelings to the point that I do not feel them at all and it is my body that tells me: you are not on a good track. My whole body participates and I have learned to really sit and be aware of the physical sensations and watch the thoughts that come when I do that. That is how I figured out that my husband was behaving like a shit a the last party. I needed to go the bathroom every half hour and later had very severe heartburn - and it got worse and worse as I recapitulated his behaviour during the evening. How do I get back into a balance? I have a few techniques AND I am watching your online course to teach me a few more. Thank you for your work!

I feel physically better when I eat whole grains like oatmeal or brown rice. I haven't noticed the effect on my mental health, but I will start paying attention to that.

I like veggies, legumes and whole grains. I like chocolate too, but I don't think it has a lot of fiber in it.

This is, with all respect, BS. Fiber causes irritation, turmoil and bloating issues in the gut and intestines, which means the digestive system can never rest. Result: Nervousness, restlessness, poor concentration, irritation, moodiness, a general sense of feeling unwell.
