What we got here was Tony Stark, the essence of his character beyond the suit and beyond RDJ. Like they said in the film, he's not the guy he used to be anymore, the life of a playboy is out the door like Tony in the books. He sees the future and he's preparing for what lies ahead. Tony Stark is Iron Man, there's no other way to say this when people say we didn't get enough Tony or not enough Iron Man. Neither side of him is more important than what he does as either.

If you read Iron Man:Extremis, you'd be pleased with the ending. Since by the start of the story, he didn't have shrapnel in his chest or a magnet. Plus this whole "battery in his chest thing" has only been going on in the comics since 2008.
I was frankly surprised that they did something as bold as removing the shrapnel and arc reactor, his suits typically power themselves in the comics anyways.
But, here's hoping he'll provide Cap with financial aid like he did in the WS comic series. :)

Didn't like what they did with the villains but absolutely loved everything else. Without the villain problems I would give it a 10/10. Does anybody else agree?

How did it end in a pesimistic way? It showed that Tony was resilient, and that not even the destructions of his suits or his house would stop him, not to mention he reconciled with Pepper.

Yeah, I love that. The War on Terror is manufactured, Tony is suffering from trauma after Avengers and loses his edge, but then he stops being a manchild and grows up realising he is better than all that.

I did enjoy this movie very much. Though having Ben be the Mandarin (who knows!?) would have been better, I liked the twist. It might not be to everyone's taste but the way it was done was cool in its own right. Extremis was used brilliantly, with spontaneously exploding people :P The Mark 42 suit, well, I need one in my life....
At least Pepper isn't full of Extremis after all!
