I ran that same rig in the U.S. Army. I was a 31C Radio Teletype op. We also had an MD-522 modem for tty purposes. When pulling rto duty late-night, that steady whirr of the Amp Fan was hypnotic. I can't tell you how many times I awoke with my head on the teletype keyboard. I operated this rig from 1986 to 1989, then again in the national guard in the mid 90s.

Do have the same rig here,
It's a AN/GRC 106A-G4 who served his former live in the German 'Bundeswehr'
Loud and clumsy to use in HAM radio, but put out a nice 400 W PEP !
Needs 24 V, 50 Amps on transmit.
I let it unmodfied, so only USB available.
Mine was build by TADIRAN ( Israël)

Use it with the ME-165/G, the power, swr monitor ( dummyload also), a perfect combination.
