Seems like you're good to take it in a carry-on, but you can't check it in a bag! The more you know

Edit: Also just wanted to point out I got this for free, and wouldn’t pay $200 for a power bank normally lol

its actually kinda ironic to me that a power bank that you can see all the internal parts looks more sketchy then just a solid colored brink.

Bro they are gonna stop you at TSA for having a Bomb 😂

The easiest way to get this safe through TSA is to whisper "dont be a hero" in their ear, the moment they take it out to look at it.

Lithium Ion batteries are what you have in your laptop and phone. You can take it on board the plane with you. You can’t have it in your checked luggage (it can’t go underneath the plane) which explains that label. Since major airlines also carry cargo and mail in the baggage compartment, international shipping regulations require boxes with dangerous goods (such as lithium ion batteries) to be labeled so they aren’t accidentally loaded. That’s also why gate agents at the counter ask you if you have any batteries or e-cigs in your bag when you check them. So you’ll be fine to bring it on the plane but not in the checked bag.

Thank you this information came at a time in which I really needed to know an answer and its great to see other people in the comments saying they are TSA staff and people with over 20 years experience stating the facts I need to know.

Shipping lithium ion batteries as cargo is different than a passenger carrying a lithium ion battery on their persons.
So you should be fine

I work at TSA. There's a difference between what you can take in a checked bag(to the cargo) and what you can take through the checkpoint(to the cabin). Lithium batteries are not allowed in checked bags unless attached to the device it was made for, but it should be fine through the checkpoint. The shipping label said that because it couldn't be put into the cargo of a passenger plane.

That label is talking about shipping it, not carrying it on.

$200 for a school project level power bank 💀💀💀

The most important part is that it has dc connector OUTPUT where you can set any voltage you want, so you can use it to power your laptop, speaker systems, some TVs, and anything else with this connector and if the voltage is enough.

I've traveled with this battery 5 times in the past year with 0 issues. The thing is, when it's going through the x-ray, it looks exactly like all other portable batteries to the TSA. Doesn't matter that this one is actually transparent, every battery bank is transparent to them.

Am I the only one that thought, that this was a 1000 watt vape mod ?

TSA is too busy looking for water bottles to notice this. TSA check points are regularly checked by auditors to see if they catch weapons and bombs. They’re failure rates is scary high.

The reason why you're required to take these on as carry on, and not hold luggage - is that if there's a fire (which might be caused just by the change in pressure) then people are made aware of it and the fire extinguisher / containment bag in the cabin can be used in good time.

And yes - there's a fire on aircraft roughly once a week caused by a battery.

That looks more like a Power *BANG* than a power bank 😂
