AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 - GTA 5 and Radeon 780M: Frame Gen With No Graphics Card

AMD recently released their new preview driver and with it, AMD AFMF 2 or Fluid Motion Frames. This allows 6000 and 7000 GPU owners, as well as certain iGPU owners to enable frame generation at driver level. Today I thought I'd try it with the 8700G and GTA V.

you can also enable framegen ingame by using the "alt+shift+g" shortcut.

Wondering how GTA 4 would run enabling this 🤔 with and without DXVK as you mentioned "unoptimized titles"

While I've come to learn to not trust companies, I really enjoy how competitive AMD is on the software side of things.

PEOPLE when that pop up happens, send the data to AMD. If you do they can improve the drivers faster.

Since you mentioned emulation, just saying an Android dev (Lyb) has been developing frame gen for Android and they even released a beta version of it. Incredible to think of

5:05 I feel you there....unfortunately they've already started doing that ever since FSR and DLSS caught on a few years back. I've seen some pretty poorly optimized games and when asked about it, a few of the dev responses would be to use FSR/DLSS for better performance.

Other than that, AFMF2 is great for emulators especially. Since they utilize Vulkan and OpenGL more than DirectX, I can play some of my favorite old games at 60-120fps (depending on if the game's FPS cap was 30 or 60) and make it feel like a whole different experience. I've already been using AFMF 1 with Breath of the Wild, so I'm excited to try out AFMF 2 with it when the drivers are more...stable 😅

This tech seems very interesting for revisiting old games with hard-coded framerate caps.

Playing 100+ FPS with high settings on an APU is insane... I know, it's not the same as native 100+ FPS, but in most games with AFMF 2 it really is smoother (unlike AFMF which was kinda bad with frame pacing and it turned off too easily with fast movements).

My wife likes it a lot. She has a 4k 60 monitor, and it makes the gameplay more fluid for her. I didn't tell her I turned it on, and she's like, why does my game feel smooter? lol.

I personally would love to see you to test AFMF 2 in more games!

I'm glad that AMD puts this out to help people. I generally don't need it with my 7900 XT.

AFMF 1 is a god send for my ROG Ally, it helps games hit close to 120FPS so I can take full advantage of the 120Hz screen. It's not perfect but damn it is appreciated.

This is great. Just used it with RX 7600. I got no crashes and its without a doubt better than 1st version.

As an Nvidia guy, I'm super jealous. I'd kill to have something like this that works on all my games!

I love to see one of my favorite channels recommending another one of my favorite channels. ❤ Both you and ancient gameplays top tier pc gaming channels. 🎉

It's a good day to be a 6700 XT budget enjoyer

Curious to see if the crappy 6500 and 6400 will benefit from this.

Digital foundry said when reviewing Elden Ring with lossless scaling not to expect the tool to fix frame pacing issues, which from softs engine is known for imo. So I don’t think developers will be getting away with bad game optimization ever

I don't think i've ever clicked faster on a YouTube notification. 🤯
