IB AA HL Maths Section 1.10 - Extended Binomial Theorem

In this video, we attempt a question which is only for HL candidates and is focused on testing students on the extended binomial theorem, where the power can be rational or negative. In this question, both types are tested. Students will need to expand up to the quadratic term, and then combine two different expansions in order to obtain a set of equations, which then need to be solved. Algebra skills are tested extensively in this question, as a single mistake may lead to disaster. The binomial theorem, both at HL and SL, is algebraically challenging and therefore requires practice in order to perfect.
