Hi! At 59:16, the solution can be "verified" using the reciprocal polynomial theorem. This states that when the coefficients of the polynomial are swapped, the roots of the polynomial are reciprocated.

The specific "transformation" they're asking for (I think) is the substitution of z as z = 1/w. This transformation converts the first polynomial to the second one. Subsequently, the method you've applied can be used and the roots found.

1:19:25 Indeed, "area" is non-negative by definition, so you need to take the absolute value of the integral. The integral gives a negative value, but that doesn't make it a "negative area" - it just reflects the fact that int(f(x)-g(x)) gives the area *between* y=f(x) and y=g(x), where f(x) is the upper function and g(x) is the lower function. So taking int(f(x)), i.e. int(f(x)-0), gives the area between y=f(x) and y=0 (i.e. the x-axis), where f(x) is the upper function and y=0 is the lower function. If f(x) is actually negative, then f(x) should be the lower function instead, so they should be subtracted the other way round (giving int(0-f(x)) = int(-f(x)) = -int f(x)), which is where the negative sign comes from.
