More easier method:
10=y+3x/x
10x=y+3x
7x=y
7=y/x
1/7=x/y.

I did it differently.
1) I multiplied both sides by x
10x= y+3x
2) Subtract both sides by 3x
7x= y
3) I then plugged in the value of y in the x/y question, so it becomes:
x/7x
4) There are two x'es so they cancel out. And we are left with 1/7

Simple:
10 = y + 3x/x
10x = y + 3x
10x - 3x = y
7x = y
7=y/x
Therefore. ( reciprocal )
X/Y = 1/7

The guy had me laughing at "this problem looks impossible"

That's one of the easy ones

Is not impossible as it is simply asking for ratio...if it had asked for individual values of x and y, it's not possible to find unique solutions.

As far this problem goes, why don't we simply cross multiply and get 10x = y + 3x and it will give is 7x = y leading to x/y = 1/7

Another different method:
10= (y+3x)/y.
Subtract both sides by 3, which gives you 7=y/X, then the reciprocal is X/y =1/7.

Could you please also do a YT channel of your shorts that isn't rushed so I can understand instead of having to watch it so many times to understand and can go back to certain time stamps as well when I don't understand something and link it to the short vids?

I just solved algebraically and got 7x = y plug it in, you get 1x/7x x cancels = 1/7

I got there with a different method:
a) 1 = ((y+3x)/10x) meaning that y+3x has the same value as 10x. Therefore, y=7x giving (x)/(7x), hence 1/7

I did it differently because of how the question worded it instantly knew A was wrong and just plugged in B and C (x for the numerator and y for the demoninator) and it came out as C being the correct answer.

10=y+3x/x so what yu can do is multiply x by both sides then yu will get

10x=y+3x then take 3x to the other side

10x -3x =y

Then 7x =y so x/y =1/7 thanks to yu all

10x = y + 3x
10x - 3x = y
7x = y
7 = y / x
1 / 7 = x / y

Math is only fun when you understand it 🥲

I just subtracted the 2 numbers from the beginning and then turned it into fraction form😅

you can use trig for it but its too complex

u can't just flip the numerator and the denominator. u have 7=y/x
u multiply 1/49 to 7 to make it 1/7 but u have to multiply even y/x with 1/49.
edit:what u are actually doing when u flip the numerator and the denominator is u are raising both the sides to the -1 power

I just went with c). It's always c).

10X=y+3X
7X=y
replace y with 7X X/7X
cancel out X an you get 1/7

Too easy, solve it before the tutor like me.
By writing as: 10x= y+3x=> 7x=y=> x/y=7 however, inverse is 1/7
