Faith Alone #7: The Most Popular Bible Verse (John 3:16)

We are saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. The sole condition to receive eternal life is faith in Christ.

As someone brought up in a "lip service faith alone salvation church", I tried my best to earn salvation. I always thought that doing good, turning away from sin, etc would get me to heaven. Although I knew Jesus died for the world, I didn't know it was for me as well unless I did good enough. I tried so hard to turn from my sins and do good. But it was never enough because as a man, I keep failing and falling into sin. I came to a point thinking, maybe Jesus did not die for me. I can't be good at all. But God made this verse John 3:16 alive for me. When I read the part "whosoever". I said to myself, the Bible never said "who has turned from all sins/who continously did good", it said whosoever believeth. I was so happy at that moment. I cannot explain the joy. To this day this has always been my favourite verse. It just requires "belief". Today I can walk the christian walk boldly. 😊

We do change after we BELIEVE IN JESUS FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SALVATION, but that's growing in the Lord Jesus. Salvation is a one time thing we are SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS 💗 and ✝️🛐 s

What does James chapter 2 verse 14-26 mean I'm confused.

You are misquoting the Scripture out of context in verses 3-9 are about being born again/of the Spirit, because unless you are, you cannot see nor enter the kingdom. Verses 19-20 is what people don't come to the light who is Christ, because they hate Him, they don't come because they don't want their evil works exposed.

3:19-20 "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

Because we cannot see nor enter the kingdom unless we are born again/of the Spirit to see and enter the kingdom, a self generated faith would not be in the kingdom. That's why verse 21 says, it's carried out by God. "But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

Christ continues this teaching in John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all." which He taught in John 1:13 "who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."

It has nothing to do with you, you are born of/by God by/of the Spirit. Do you have anything to do with your nature birth? No! In like manner with being born of the Spirit/of/by God/born again.
